Why I Started Building Templates

So I’ve been messing with OpenClaw for a while now. Setting up agents for myself, tweaking workflows, helping friends get their stuff running. And every single time I’d start from scratch. New SOUL.md, new HEARTBEAT.md, same patterns, same structure, copy paste from the last one.

After doing this like four times I was like… okay this is dumb. Why am I rebuilding the same thing over and over.

That’s honestly the whole origin story. I started saving my setups as template folders. Then I cleaned them up so they weren’t just “my messy config files” but actually something someone else could use. Added docs, added READMEs, made the USER.md stuff easy to customize.

The first one I put together was The Freelancer. It’s basically everything I wish someone handed me when I started doing freelance work. Client tracking, inbox management, time awareness, invoice reminders. The whole setup took me like a week to get right originally and now you can just drop it in and go.

I’ve got five premium ones now and two free ones. The free ones are good starting points if you just want a clean agent setup without opinions. The paid ones are opinionated on purpose, they’re built around specific workflows that I’ve actually tested.

Anyway I’m shipping more of these and also working on something bigger (more on that soon). If you want to see what I’m building, I’m @liz_macliz on Twitter.
